Our Export Process
Puppies Downunder are committed to making the process of bringing your new puppy to Hong Kong as simple and stress-free as possible. Our experienced team will guide you through every step, from selecting your puppy through to their safe arrival in Hong Kong.
Step 1
Speak with Our Team
Your journey begins with a conversation with one of our experienced team members. We’ll discuss your lifestyle, answer your questions, and help you choose the puppy that best suits your family.
Step 3
Secure Your Puppy
A deposit is required to reserve your chosen puppy. Once your deposit has been received, your puppy will be held exclusively for you while we begin preparing for export.
Step 5
Boarding and Training
Puppies travelling to Hong Kong must be at least 12 weeks of age before they are eligible to fly.

As our puppies are ready to leave for their new homes from 10 weeks of age, they remain in our care for an additional 14 days before departure.
Boarding is charged at $50 per day during this period.
​
While boarding with us, your puppy will continue to receive:
​
* Daily care and enrichment
* Toilet training foundations
* Crate training
* Lead Training
* Ongoing socialisation
​
Additional one-on-one training is available for $100 per hour. If you would like your puppy to receive extra training before travelling, please speak with a member of our team.
Step 8
Optional De-Sexing
If you would like your puppy desexed before travelling, we can arrange this for you. Please speak with our team regarding the appropriate timing, pricing and veterinary recommendations.
Step 9
Vaccinations
Before leaving Puppies Downunder, your puppy will receive:
* A health examination by our veterinarian
* A microchip
* Vaccinations at 6 weeks and 8 weeks of age

Once your puppy arrives in Hong Kong, they will require one final puppy vaccination to complete their vaccination schedule. Your local veterinarian will advise you on the appropriate timing.
Step 2
Arrange a WhatsApp Video Call
​Once you’ve found a puppy you’re interested in, we’ll organise a personalised WhatsApp video call. This gives you the opportunity to meet your puppy, observe their temperament, and ask any questions before proceeding.
Step 4
​Apply for Your Hong Kong Import Permit
The purchaser is responsible for applying for an import permit through the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD).

Step 6
Flight Arrangements
​Our puppies depart from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and fly directly to Hong Kong using approved live animal transport services. We coordinate the travel arrangements and keep you informed throughout the process.
Step 7
Transition Care Package
To help your puppy settle into their new home, we offer a Transition Care Package for $60, plus $88 postage.

The package includes essential items to support your puppy’s health, nutrition and ongoing training, including:
* The food your puppy has been eating
* Electrolytes
* Worming tablets
* A slip lead to assist with ongoing lead training

These items help provide continuity of care and make the transition into your home as smooth as possible.
Step 10
Rabies Vaccination
Australia is recognised as a rabies-free country, so puppies exported from Australia to Hong Kong do not require a rabies vaccination for entry into Hong Kong.
​
However, many puppy preschools, training facilities and boarding kennels in Hong Kong require dogs to have a current rabies vaccination before they can attend.
​
If you would like your puppy vaccinated before departure, our government-authorised veterinarians can administer the rabies vaccination prior to export. Please speak with our team if you would like to arrange this service
